2.Where are you from?

I’m from the Netherlands.

3.Where do you work?

I work for Polteq, an independent provider of testing services.

4. Can you tell us how you got involved in testing?

In basis, I like the challenge to find ways to break software… While in college I took all available classes that involved software testing and I graduated on model based testing. I think it’s really nice to see how testing can help creating a better product in the end.

5. How many times have you been to EuroSTAR?

I’ve been to EuroSTAR twice, the last two conferences. On both I got accepted as a speaker. This year I will not attend the conference, but I got to give a webinar so I still feel very involved.

6. What’s your favourite hobby?

Next to testing, my favourite hobby is ballroom dancing, but I also enjoy playing games (computer games, but also board games) and relaxing on the couch while watching some series.

7. What would you have been if you weren’t involved in testing?

Probably something in the area of software architecture.

8. Have you any advice to give to a young tester or someone just starting their testing career?

Have fun in your job and read a lot on testing (blogs, books, articles, …). Try attend some conferences, since this is where you will meet people that have some great ideas on testing.

9. If you could do a project with one other tester/developer/programmer who would it be?

There are a lot of people with whom I’ve already worked and would love to work again, but I’m also sure there are a lot of people out there that prove to be very fun and interesting to work with. It’s just too hard to pick a single person.

10. What is your favourite motivational quote?

Mistakes teach you important lessons. Every time you encounter one, you are a step closer to your goal.
