An Influential and Charismatic Tester, Really?
Speaker: Tim Koomen
Time: 10:00, Thursday
If you work a little longer in IT, you undoubtedly recognize the importance of soft skills. You need these to cooperate within your team, to get the things done that you think are most important, and to “sell” your message as a tester.
An important part of soft skills is being able to influence others. Whether you like it or not, you will have to influence and convince people to be able to do your work as a tester. To do this, you can use certain techniques, and yes, contrary to what many people believe, you can actually train to be (more) charismatic and influential!
This presentation uses techniques from gurus in this area Robert Cialdini and Olivia Fox Cabane, and translates these to our testing world.
- Influence techniques (reciprocation, commitment, consistency, social proof, liking, authority, scarcity)
- Charisma techniques (presence, power, warmth)
- The thin line between influence and manipulation
Don’t you want to become more influential and charismatic? You should still join this presentation, to recognize the many others who do use the techniques!
