Test Lab apprentice, Ru Cindrea, is eager to get started-->
The Test Lab is hosted in the Expo Hall by Bart Knaack and Martin Jansson. Bart & Martin will be joined by Apprentices Kristoffer Ankaberg and Ru Cindrea. Here, Cindrea outlines her expectations for this year’s Lab.
Only one week before the conference and I feel I can’t wait to get to Amsterdam and meet my colleagues from the Test Lab. I was very excited to find out I was chosen as one of the test lab apprentices, along with Kristoffer, and I am now even more excited about the sessions that we have planned and about helping Bart and Martin to turn this year’s Test Lab into a great experience again.
I am really looking forward to the Mindstorms sessions, which seem to have been a great hit in the test lab at other conferences, judging by the tweets I have seen in the past months, and I am also curious about the testing dojo with Markus Gartner, which is scheduled for Wednesday.
I am currently trying to help build our testing community in Finland and I have discussed many times with my colleagues about the possibility of running a test lab at some of the local conferences and events here so I am very excited about the “Dissecting the Test Lab: How to Build your own” session. I hope to get more insight on how everything is run as well as suggestions on how to get things started.
But most of all, I am looking forward to meeting all the great testers that have always made the Test Lab the heart of the conference. Some of them are already old friends that I hope to have a drink with during the beer session in the Test Lab. Some I haven’t even met yet – and I can’t wait to get to know them, to pair with them for a few testing sessions, to discuss and debate different bugs.
Last year, when Michael Bolton first came to the Test Lab, he looked around and said: “So this is where all the cool kids are!”. I hope this year we will gather even more ‘cool kids’. The Test Lab will be now setup in the Expo Hall, so it will be easy for each of you to stop by and join us. There’s a lot of testing to be done and a lot of bugs to be found!
Ru Cindrea is a senior test consultant and managing partner at Altom Consulting, focusing on test management and mobile software testing. With over 10 years of experience, she believes all testing is exploratory and she is currently working with the Finnish testing community on building a strong group of context-driven testers.
