How to stay human in the times of AI

Bells Smętek

15:00 - 15:45 CEST Wednesday 4th June

Right now, whatever we think about the AI revolution, the question “should I even use it?” is fading. But a more pressing one comes up: how?

If you want to use any tool in a conscious way, you need to be informed. You need to reflect on your needs and identify potential benefits and risks of using it. Whether you’re excited or apprehensive about AI, this session will help you make informed decisions about its role in your life and work, and see the broader perspective. Artificial intelligence is just this: an artificial, powerful tool. We need human intelligence, history and experience, our ability to set and stick to values to create a crucial element needed for AI development: human wisdom.

To achieve it, we have to ask: how to use AI and stay human, in more than just one sense. Attendees will be invited to explore these essential questions: How to use AI in ways that enhance, rather than diminish, our humanity? How to use it and not damage our brains, not yet evolved for the technology we can create? How to use it and not hinder our children’s development? How to use it and not accidentally destroy the world of art, but instead build a reality where we can create more? How to use it for good?

You may already know the technological risks and rewards, but this talk goes beyond that. It places AI in a broader human context, offering you new perspectives on how AI intersects with ethics, values, and societal well-being. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of AI’s impact and a clearer sense of how to align its use with your own principles. It’s aimed to encourage listeners to reflect on their needs, values and goals. It’s designed to help humans… stay human.
