One Dataset to Rule them All!

Chain testing within, and even more so between entities can be a hassle. Not only does a lot need to be arranged in terms of process and responsibilities, also the data used needs to be crystal clear.

And that is where it often goes wrong: It is precisely in the data used that many differences in interpretation arise, resulting in avoidable chain test interruptions.

That’s why a number of Dutch governmental organizations have committed to the goal of creating a dataset that can be used for chain testing across government organizations: “One dataset to rule them all.”

René and Maikel will take you through the challenges that setting up this dataset had and has, the organizational structure that was devised to give the participating organizations influence while at the same time avoiding a standstill due to too much consultation, and of course the results so far (varying from a dataset, a film and a LEGO(R) workshop!). They will also shed a light on the future of this dataset, which (surprise) includes AI-generated test data, and hope to hear your suggestions on improving this data set and it’s future!

René Tuinhout

René is an experienced test advisor, a test & quality (practice) manager and an experienced speaker on (inter)national events. René repaired an imperfection in the bva testing technique, was co-author of a book on testing and reviewer of several other software testing books.

Above all, he’s passionate about our ever changing field of expertise and the influences other fields have on it (and what we can learn from that). René combines his passion for testing with a passion for improvisational theatre, making his presentations and workshops filled with energy and interaction.

I have been working as a tester for over 25 years now. I live in the little village of Aduard near Groningen in the Netherlands with my girlfriend Mirjam and little son Darius.

I worked for many companies and organizations, since 2013 for the government organization Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (under the Ministry of Education). I have been involved in the government workgroup Chain testing since 2017 with the Chain test village as one of the results.
