Surviving and Thriving with AI in QA

Maryia Tuleika

10:00 - 10:45 CEST Friday 6th June

We’ve all seen AI pushed as the “solution” to every problem. AI can make things faster, but does it really make things better? And more importantly, does it replace the need for skilled QA professionals? The latest research has an answer: No, it doesn’t, at least for now.

Let’s be honest: many of us are tired of the constant hype around AI. Relying on it too much comes with risks, especially for QA roles. The real value of a skilled QA engineer is the ability to think critically, solve problems creatively, and understand the process behind the results, not just mindlessly following instructions without understanding how the system works. At the same time, AI can complement the work of a QA engineer and simplify their work once there is a strategy in place.

In this talk, I’d like to highlight results from the latest research papers and connect them with real-life stories, covering:

  • Limits of AI in QA and why the basics of QA and problem-solving are more important than ever in an AI-driven world.
  • The risks and impact of relying too much on AI on core QA skills and professional growth.
  • How to balance AI and your expertise, ensuring long-term career security.
