We were promised magic. The AI testing tool claimed to do it all: generate test cases, heal scripts, improve coverage, and save time. Leadership was excited. Testers were curious. The promise was automation with intelligence. What we got was automation without understanding.

This talk tells the story of our AI journey, not as a warning, but as a lesson in what happens when tools are adopted without context. The tool worked perfectly during the demo. But in production, it missed the paths that mattered. It couldn’t understand domain-specific logic. And when it failed, it failed silently. We only realized it when customer scenarios flagged by business teams were skipped in production.

For leaders, this talk offers a grounded way to evaluate AI claims. I will share the questions we should have asked, the blind spots we discovered too late, and the conversations that helped reset expectations. AI is powerful, but only when it is paired with judgment.
