Context Engineering for Testers

Rahul Parwal

09:00 - 12:30 CEST, Monday 15th June

Testers use Gen AI for various testing activities. The advantage of generative AI is that you can interact with it like a human.

However, just like with humans, if you don’t share the same context, any serious interaction is not possible at all. For testers, context is one of the key guiding forces behind their testing – be it testing with AI tools or without them; a new project or an old one. Context glues everything together and enables testers to perform testing at its best. Context engineering is a strong communication skill for working with AI-powered tools and systems. It is the tester’s skill of shaping, modeling, and feeding the right information into AI systems so they can become a useful partner in testing.

If context is not engineered well, AI will continue to produce shallow results, regardless of how carefully we craft our prompts. In this workshop, we will dive into the practical aspects of context engineering. We will explore the art and science of discovering and leveraging the right context areas for any testing context.

Through a blend of exercise-based short lessons and interactive activities, we will learn how to curate and fine-tune context along with your AI prompts to make the best use of AI in your work.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll have a context engineering framework to complement your AI prompts and transform them into a valuable tool for context-driven testing activities such as requirement analysis, bug reporting, test design, etc. So, if you’re still confused about leveraging AI effectively for your context, this workshop will help you map your context to AI tools and bring them close to you.
