Creating a Better Test Team: Mix, Match, Listen and Learn!

Iris Pinkster

Fieke de Vreede

11:15 - 12:45 CEST, Wednesday 17th June

Testers love testing. We love contributing to quality, working with different test tools and test techniques, showing risks and yes, we are also proud of the issues we find before go-live to prevent disasters.

So, in this testers are “the same”. But of course differences occur in testers’ backgrounds, such as personal background, project and test experience.

We believe that using these differences can make testing better. Whether you are part of a test team, a test chapter or guild or one of the testers in an Agile team.

During this Deep Dive we want to concentrate on these differences in test experience. One of the speakers has over 25 years’ experience in testing while the other speaker has less than 5 years’ experience in testing. Although we have never worked together at a project, during our conversations we have noticed various things, for example:

* Why don’t we think the same about the importance of a test process?
* How come we don’t apply test techniques on the same level?
* What is the reluctancy to using a test planning?

When digging deeper into these topics, we found out that some of these topics come from our difference in testing experience. And when explaining our viewpoint to each other, we understand each other’s viewpoints better and learn from each other.

During this Deep Dive we will use various exercises to:

* Show the attendees what the relationship between their test experience and the efficiency in their test team is.
* Make the attendees aware how they can listen to and learn from others
* Understand how a good mix and match of test experience can shape a better test team

So if you want to create a better test team, come to this Deep Dive: mix, match, listen and learn!
