The EuroSTAR programme is created by the community for the community. Our 2020 online conference was led by our Programme Chair Rik Marselis. The committee reviews each and every speaker submission to curate the very best keynotes, tutorials, track talks and workshops for our attendees. We had a range of diverse talks and topics in 2020, and we look forward to a diverse and engaging programme for 2021. Our 2021 programme chair is Fran O’Hara!   • Rik Marselis 2020 EuroSTAR Conference Programme Chair


    Programme Chair - Rik Marselis (Netherlands)

    Rik Marselis is a testing expert at Sogeti in the Netherlands. He is a well-appreciated presenter, trainer, author, consultant and coach in the world of testing. His presentations are always appreciated for their liveliness, his ability to keep the talks serious but light, and his use of practical examples with humorous comparisons.
    Rik supported many organizations and people in improving their testing practice by providing useful tools & checklists, practical support and having in-depth discussions. As a fellow of SogetiLabs (Sogeti’s R&D network), Rik researches the testing of intelligent machines (such as chatbots and robots) and how to use artificial intelligence and machine learning to support testing activities.

  • Mette Bruhn-Pedersen EuroSTAR Conference Committee


    Mette Bruhn-Pedersen (Denmark)

    Mette Bruhn-Pedersen has experience working in testing as a tester, test manager, test lead, and agile transformation coach primarily in the financial sector. She has both used traditional and agile approaches to testing on a team level and company level. Since 2014 Mette has helped managers, QA & Test leads, agile teams and business stakeholders on their journey from a team-based agile setup to a scaled setup. Following the SAFe Implementation Roadmap and good practices, Mette helps define value streams, launch and run Solution and Agile Release Trains. She also conducts training and coaches people on how to transition to new roles and responsibilities. Based on these experiences and discussions with peers, Mette has co-authored an eBook about Quality and Testing in Scaled Agile Framework for Lean Enterprises, which was published in April 2018. In her spare time, Mette promotes software testing in Denmark and worldwide through her engagement in Danish Software Testing Board (DSTB) and ISTQB.

    Marta Firlej (Poland)

    Marta Firlej started her journey with software testing in 2006. She is engaged in quality assurance and competence development. She had the opportunity to not only build and develop testing teams, but also work with customers to create, develop, and design software. The initiator of Testing Conference Test:Fest in Wroclaw. Member of the committee of judges in Polish Testing Cup Championships in 2013 and 2014.
    Outside of work, Marta likes to travel, cook, and goes cycling.

  • Zeger Van Hese 2020 EuroSTAR Conference Committee


    Zeger Van Hese (Belgium)

    Zeger Van Hese has a background in Commercial Engineering and Cultural Science. He started his professional career in the motion picture industry but switched to IT in 1999. A year later he got bitten by the software testing bug (pun intended) and has never been cured since. He is a reasonable doubter with the mind of a skeptic but the heart of a believer. He has a passion for all things testing and continuous learning from different perspectives. He was program chair of EuroSTAR 2012, recipient of the European Testing Excellence Award in 2018 and co-founder of DEWT and BREWT, the Dutch and Belgian exploratory workshops on testing. He tweets as @testsidestory and is a regular speaker at national and international conferences. In 2013, Zeger founded his own company, Z-sharp.
