Are you ready to join the long list of EuroSTAR legends who have shared their testing stories? EuroSTAR is Europe’s biggest testing stage, and every year we welcome 60+ speakers to share their experience and skills with over 1,000 attendees: inspiring new ideas, generating solutions, and driving innovation in testing. This year is extra special – we’re celebrating 30 years of the testing community in beautiful Copenhagen – and we want YOU to join us. This year’s theme is ‘Shaping Testing’. Submitting is easy, and you have until November 15th to get yours in. So, get your thinking cap on! Every year our speakers tell us about the incredible experience they had on stage, interacting with attendees and other speakers. Here are 6 top reasons to speak at EuroSTAR this year.
1. Build on your career
EuroSTAR is a chance to elevate your career by becoming a speaker at Europe’s biggest test event. Showcase your skills to the entire testing community, and be part of driving testing forward and helping the community grow: your voice can help shape the message, conversations, and direction. Our speakers tell us that helping others facing similar challenges to become better testers is very gratifying. Every year the EuroSTAR Testing Excellence Award, Best Tutorial, and Best Paper awards highlight outstanding achievements in testing – you could be one of the speakers accepting an award next year.
“I would encourage you to speak at EuroSTAR because of the really magnificent feeling of sharing your experience, of sharing your knowledge with a truly amazing audience who are there to learn from you. It’s an amazing chance, go and do it, you will love it!”Elena Kolpakova, AKQA, Germany
2. Help other learn from your experiences
The dedicated EuroSTAR community is looking for real life experiences from speakers – your successes, failures, what you learnt, and what you’d do differently. This is your chance to share your story, from your own personal or professional life. This year’s theme is Shaping Testing, and it’s open to interpretation – make it your own! Tell others what helped shape your testing and make a real difference in the testing community.
3. Expand your professional network
EuroSTAR is all about networking, and we love bringing everyone together to chat, debate, discuss, and spark new ideas. EuroSTAR 2022 will have tons of networking events: during the day we have lean coffee, mini meet-ups, lunches, plus lots of opportunities to interact together in the Huddle area. When the sun goes down, the EuroSTAR at Night evening networking events include the Test Lab Party, Community Dinner, and the annual Gala Awards Dinner. As a speaker, you’ll have excellent opportunities to make valuable connections within the wider testing community, and learn from other speakers.
4. Engage with an incredible community
Our speakers are continually amazed at how receptive our EuroSTAR delegates are. The audience at EuroSTAR is highly engaged and eager to learn. It’s a super friendly community and attendees are always wanting to hear about your experience. There’s nothing like getting on stage in front of a live audience, seeing their reaction, and having memorable discussions. We really do live and breathe the community spirit at EuroSTAR.
5. Develop your business and get PR for your personal brand
Nothing beats meeting in person (we all realize that now more than ever!). At EuroSTAR, over the 4-day conference you will meet and shake hands with so many well-connected people in the testing world, as well as potential clients. After all, this is where the entire community gathers every year. As a speaker, your talk is an opportunity to showcase your expertise and knowledge to potential clients within the audience. This can often lead to business development and valuable connections that last long after the conference is over. Win-win!
“As a speaker at EuroSTAR, you will find it much easier to make contacts, both during the conference and also afterwards, and it can raise your profile within the industry and your current organisation.”Andrew Brown, Expleo, UK
6. Expand your knowledge
Being surrounded by 1000 testers and 60+ speakers means this is an amazing opportunity for you to deepen your understanding on testing topics and pick up some new ideas – EuroSTAR is a melting pot of creativity, and you’ll be immersed with highly talented people with lots of different skills and stories to share. Hear from other speakers’ experiences, connect with people who share the same problems as you, get different perspective, ignite new ideas… the possibilities are endless!
Now you know why you should submit to speak at EuroSTAR, so it’s time to start writing a great submission. If you’re new to speaking, we’ve got lots of helpful tips in our submission guide to help you transform your idea onto paper. If you’re more comfortable with speaking than writing, you can upload a video to support your proposal (but keep in mind we’ll have to view all videos, so make it no longer than 3 minutes).
Think about what engages you in your work, what holds your attention, what engrosses you in testing? You just need a title, summary and 3 key takeaways in order to submit. Don’t forget, submissions close Nov 15th! Get started now, and see you in Copenhagen next June?
