Testing Excellence Award

Testing Excellence logo

EuroSTAR’s European Testing Excellence Award is presented annually to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the field of software testing within Europe. The award seeks to promote leadership, contribution and effectiveness in testing process and implementation.

Special recognition is given to those who serve the testing community and inspire other test professionals to take a collaborative approach to advancing the craft of software testing.

Congratulations to Graham Freeburn on receiving the Testing Excellence Award for 2016. Graham has been a long standing member of the EuroSTAR Software Testing community and has attended virtually every EuroSTAR Conference – with one snow-bound exception! “When I went to the EuroSTAR conference for the first time in 2004, I did not know what the Testing Excellence Award was.  Over the years the award grew to me in value.  I remember the first Award Gala, when I humbly thought; “Well maybe… maybe, I would like to win this award, if I could”. Ever since, the award triggered me to think about what I wanted to contribute to our profession.

To me, this defines the true value of the Testing Excellence Award. It shows us that we need to lead the community and share our vision and knowledge in such a way that others can take it yet another step further. To first time delegates the award might not mean that much yet, but a future winner is among them. I hope that among them are a few that got inspired to share their stories and opinions.

But for now I am truly trilled that I am actually holding the award. I am overwhelmed by the large support the nomination got from all those colleagues whom I respect for their contribution to the trade and that have become friends over the years. I would like to thank them all, including my employer Valori who supports me in my contributions to the testing community”

  • 15th European Testing Excellence Award Winner

    Name: Jerry Weinberg

Award: 15th European Testing Excellence Award (2013)

    Venue: Gothenburg, Sweden

I’m simply blown away by your announcement. Over the years, I’ve simply been doing my job – helping smart people be happy and productive. Influencing testing toward greater professionalism seems just a natural part of that task.

The many letters from my students and colleagues brought tears to my eyes. I guess they’re all true, but I’ve never seen all that feedback collected in one place.

Well, I don’t know what else I can tell you. Suffice it to say that although I’ve written millions of published words, I’m so overwhelmed that I can’t think of any more words to offer you.
