Her focus is on leadership, establishing sustainable processes, building high performance teams, coaching and mentoring teams and individuals. She is a Certified Agile Coach and mentor.

Iris Pinkster – O’Riordain

Test Manager – Professional Testing, Netherlands

Iris Pinkster – O’Riordain is test advisor at Professional Testing and has experience in testing and test management since 1996. She co-developed Logica’s method for structured testing: TestFrame ®, their test management approach and TestGrip, the method on test policy and test organization. She is co-author of the books published on these topics. She often speaks at (inter) national conferences. In 2007 she won the EuroSTAR award for “Best Tutorial”. In 2017 she was Program Chair for EuroSTAR.

Bas Dam

Quality Engineer – Performance Architecten, Netherlands

Bas Dam works as a quality engineer on the interface of people, techniques and processes to stabilize and improve the quality of IT solutions. His projects are very divers: full stack websites, transaction processing, low-code solutions, data vaults, big data and big lakes. In his current project he, as Machine Learning Operation (MLOPS) engineer, productionalises machine learning models that can trace financial criminality. Start a conversation with Bas on continuous feedback loops, retro computing, programming games or human friendly infrastructure and you will have a nicely spend evening.

Start-up Mode: Wearing Many Hats as QA

I was born, raised and educated in the German countryside; but after my initial vocal education as an Early Childhood Professional, I soon left the country to live in Egypt for 7 years. I trained there after a couple of years, and one Revolution later, to become a German Teacher for the Goethe Institute. I moved for a quick stint to Dublin and stayed a year to teach German, before moving on to Bucharest, where I stayed for 4 years and worked as a German Teacher and Translator. Today, I am back in the German countryside where I originally came from. I decided it’s time to change jobs, and studied for a Master in Technical Communication and Localisation, which I completed this year. At the same time the opportunity arose to move from Localisation management to QA. Today, I’m the QA Manager in the company I am working for.

Dr Andrew Brown is a principal consultant at Expleo. He leads an independent line of research into understanding why we humans make the mistakes that lead to software defects.

He has 25 years’ experience in the software industry. Previous roles include Head of QA at HMV, Head of QA at a financial software house, and a test manager in Japan. He holds a degree in Physics and Maths, an MBA from Warwick Business School, and a doctorate from Imperial College.

Elmar works both as a researcher and a founder. Elmar wrote his PhD thesis on static code analysis and is still active as a researcher in software quality analysis. In 2009, he co-founded CQSE GmbH and since helps teams in using analysis tools more effectively. Elmar frequently talks at research conferences (e.g. ICSE, ICPC) and industry events (e.g. GOTO, OOP, JAX). He was elected best speaker at Clean Code Days, Software Quality Days, QS-Tag and Java Forum Stuttgart. Elmar was named Junior Fellow of the German Chapter of the ACM in 2015.

Currently, she is working as Engineering Manager, but Quality Assurance is a huge part of her soul. In every company she works for, she is engaged in quality assurance and competence development. She had the opportunity to not only build and develop testing teams, but also work with customers to create, develop, and design software. Outside of work, Marta likes to travel, cook, and cycle.

Parallel to his work with and in startups, he is the organizer of the communities Software Testing Karlsruhe and Automation Advocates where thousands of testers share content every day.

Mark is a software testing researcher, lecturer and occasional practitioner. Whilst his day job is now focused mostly on academic aspects of the field, Mark has worked and consulted for companies internationally, spoken at industry conferences such as the Google Test Automation conferences and has a doctorate in software engineering. Today, Mark spends most of his time looking into open problems in software testing with a particular focus on the human tester.
