Anne-Marie Charrett

Anne-Marie Charrett is a software engineer & founder of Testing Times; a consultancy focused on solutions in quality engineering. An electronic engineer by trade, quality chose Anne-Marie when she discovered compliance did not necessarily mean fit for purpose.As an adjunct professor at UTS, Anne-Marie created and delivered courses on software testing. She has also been an instructor for the online BBST (BlackBox Software Testing) classes. In 2022, Anne-Marie was awarded the EuroSTAR 2022 Award for Software Testing Excellence. Isabel Evans

Independent, UK

After nearly 40 years in the industry, software quality and testing practitioner Isabel Evans is now a post-graduate student at the University of Malta. Her research takes a people-focused approach to the design of tool support for testing. This arose from real-life experiences in the industry and led to the academic papers: “Stuck in Limbo with Magical Solutions”, “Scared, Frustrated and Quietly Proud”, and “Test tools: An illusion of usability”. Research continues with modelling and trialing a framework for test tool design. Isabel authored “Achieving Software Quality Through Teamwork” and chapters in “Agile Testing: How to Succeed in an eXtreme Testing Environment”, “Testing Practitioner”, and “Foundations of Software Testing”. Isabel has chaired EuroSTAR (2019) and HUSTEF (2018), and presented popular tutorials and storytelling keynotes at conferences worldwide. She is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and received the 2017 EuroSTAR Testing Excellence Award.

Thomas Shipley

Thomas Shipley is a QA currently working as a Head of QA at GlobalLogic. He works with clients and colleagues to help them improve their approach to delivering quality throughout the development lifecycle. Experienced across many different industries covering retail, gaming and financial services at companies including John Lewis, Eat, Microsoft and HSBC.

Antony Yammine

QA Operational Manager – Murex, Cyprus

With 8 years of experience in the software industry, I am a Senior Quality Assurance Manager at Murex, a company providing leading digital technology solutions for capital markets. I work to up the regression testing game, starting with respective methodologies, and aiming at a steady introduction of new features that do not alter both the progress and quality of the platform. I also handle specific clients’ test cases and coverage gaps through design, plans, and ad-hoc manual test campaigns. At Murex, I was privileged to take different jobs and titles. There is where I started as a Release Management Specialist, moving to Product Owner, and Scrum master within the Scaled Agile Framework reaching where and what I am today. But if we want to talk about the original person that I am, I am a Professional Basketball player who fans the essence of architectonics, which I went for a degree in. I was a Mechanical Engineer before I took the software journey!

Chris Armstrong

Quality Consultant – Testing Peers, UK

Having worked in software quality roles since 2004, Chris specialises in strategic test leadership. Through the years, he has worked with and led testing teams, and has learnt the skills needed to overcome many challenges faced by team leads and test managers. Chris is passionate about quality; people, processes, and products. He is an active member of the global software testing community and co-host of both the popular podcast “Testing Peers” and the monthly YouTube stream “9 out of 10 Testers”. Chris loves to engage with new people – facilitating events and interesting discussions is his bag.

Hanna Schlander is a Quality Catalyst at Devoteam Creative Tech . In her current job she works in the retail industry with a DevOps project built with Microservices. Hanna started her testing career by getting some training in testing at her first job after university, it was love at first sight! Throughout her 11 years in testing, she has worked in multiple fields such as MedTech and Telecom and in a lot of different stages of testing. Being a very curious person Hanna loves the ever-changing world of testing. When she’s not working you’ll most likely find her outside walking with her husband and dog or binge-watching some old tv-series.

Veerle Verhagen

Software Tester, Dutch Railways, Netherlands

Veerle Verhagen is a software tester from the Netherlands, currently working for Dutch Railways. She is particularly interested in agile testing, the human beings behind the software, core skills for IT professionals, and ethics in tech. When she’s not testing, she likes to put her background in education to use by creating and facilitating workshops. Ask her about: early medieval combat sports, her motorbike, her hopes to one day sail to the Channel Islands in a 6,5m sailboat.

Sanne Visser

Test Manager, Capgemini, Netherlands

Sanne Visser is a test manager at Capgemini in the Netherlands. She has more than 10 years experience in software testing. Throughout her career she has worked on a wide variety of projects from insurance systems to railway software solutions. Her main technical focus is E2E testing in complex software systems. She was chairperson of the blockchain testing community from 2018 to 2021. Sanne is a part-time stoic and loves talking to her team about learning resilience using stoicism. Her motto is “Every effort is beautiful, you are what you do everyday”.

Ard is a software tester from the Netherlands, and he is working for OrangeCrest Consulting. He calls himself a Qualisopher, which stands for someone “who loves truth and wisdom and at the same time is decisive to improve man and his environment”. This means he is interested in the world around us, to see what he can learn and apply in software testing. His dream is to participate, as a good qualisopher, in all kinds of projects such as sports, culture, or software testing. Fredrik Håård

Fredrik is a software developing freelancer, and in 20ish years has worked in “all of the industries” in almost every role from tech lead to tester. In his career he has worked with everything from tiny startups to huge enterprise companies and he’s currently the backend Django lead at Codepath.

Refusing to overly specialize or ever (again) accepting a management role, he combines a long and broad experience in software development with both technical and organizational skills. Recent work has focused on building teams, securing data and processes, and making sure that things go faster and/or cheaper.

Sophie Küster

Test Automation Engineer – Cronn, Germany

Sophie studied mathematics at university which did not go as planned. She finished with a diploma, nonetheless. Serendipity brought her into agile testing – and she has never looked back. She now works happily as a test automation engineer at cronn GmbH, a Bonn based IT company. After years of successfully hunting bugs, lately she’s also been working in Java backend development so she can cut out the middle person and introduce the bugs herself. In her free time, she enjoys doing ballet and SUPing (in non-lockdown times) or knitting and baking (in lockdown times). No stranger to the universe’s gut punches, she is passionate about improving awareness and communication about mental health and self-care.
